Bully Project
In this project, my class helped raise awareness about bullying in our very own school. We made a Prezi presentation that contains facts, suggestions, and statistics regarding bullying in school. Our assignment was to present this controversial issue to underclassmen and warn them about the dangers of bullying. By doing this project, my Contemporary Themes class was able to spread meaningful information to help our school take a stand against this very serious issue. What I have learned from doing this project is every student can make a contribution in helping to stop bullying in our school, and ultimately, in our communities.

Literature Circle Discussions
In Literature Circle Discussions, the class forms separate groups and individual groups decide on a specific book to read as a group. In my first literature circle discussion, my group read The Help by Kathryn Stockett. For this assignment, our group had to read the book everyday for 20 minutes at the beginning of class. Then on every Friday, the group would meet and hold a discussion where each group member would explain what he or she did for his or her weekly literature circle job. After the discussion, there would be an online post where literature circle groups post comments about their discussions that day. From this assignment, I have learned that group discussions are one way how contemporary issues arise since different people in can contribute their own perspective to a common topic.
